Applies to
URMEK app and this website

The agreement

These terms are between you and RouteCore Services Inc., operating as RouteCore Services (“we”, “us”), the operator of the URMEK app and service. By creating an account or using URMEK you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use URMEK for a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

Definitions

  • Customer: an owner-operator, fleet manager or fleet driver who requests service.
  • Mechanic: an independent business that accepts and performs jobs through URMEK.
  • Job: a request that a mechanic has accepted, from acceptance to the finish code.
  • Locked price: the mechanic’s published call-out fee plus the first hour of labour at the applicable rate, confirmed by the customer before dispatch.
  • Platform fee: 10% of the pre-tax value of a job, shown as a line on the invoice.
  • Platform Verified: a mechanic whose licence, insurance, service vehicle and equipment we have reviewed and approved. Any other mechanic is labelled Not Fully Verified.

Accounts

You must be at least 18 and provide accurate information. Sign-in uses one-time codes sent to your phone or email; keep your device secure and do not share codes or your emergency PIN. You are responsible for activity on your account until you tell us it has been compromised. One person may hold one account per role.

How URMEK works

URMEK is a dispatch platform, not a marketplace. We send a request to the nearest suitable mechanic, who has a short window to accept; a declined or expired offer goes to the next mechanic. There is no bidding. The customer is always shown the mechanic’s verification badge and the locked price before confirming. We may show up to three alternatives, and after a fallback period we may offer other providers.

We are not a party to the repair itself. The mechanic is an independent contractor and is responsible for the quality and safety of their work, their licences, their insurance and their taxes. We operate verification, dispatch, pricing rules, payment processing and dispute review.

Prices, holds and payment (customers)

  • The locked price is pre-authorized on your card when a mechanic is dispatched. It is captured when the job closes with the finish code, together with any line items you approved.
  • Extra labour beyond the first hour is billed at the mechanic’s locked hourly rate. Parts and extra hours are added only as line items you approve in the app before the work.
  • If the mechanic cannot complete the repair roadside, they must give a reason and at least one photo. You may accept the outcome, which bills the diagnosis at the locked price, or flag it, which holds payment for our review.
  • Fleet managers may allow night-time auto-authorization within a dollar limit and service list; approvals given under those rules bind the fleet.
  • Prices exclude HST, which is added on the invoice. The mechanic is the supplier for tax purposes; the platform fee is our charge and appears separately.
  • Any cancellation charge is shown in the app before you confirm a cancellation. Cancelling before a mechanic accepts costs nothing.

Start and finish codes; no off-platform dealing

Every job is bracketed by two one-time codes: the customer gives the start code when the mechanic arrives and the finish code when the work is done. Codes exist so that every job is traceable and every invoice defensible. Both parties agree not to arrange, pay for or accept payment for work introduced through URMEK outside the platform, and not to exchange contact details for that purpose. We may suspend or close accounts that do, and we review jobs whose location, timing or codes suggest it.

Mechanic terms

  • Independent contractor. You provide services in your own business, at your own risk, with your own tools, vehicle and insurance. Nothing here creates employment, partnership or agency.
  • Verification and compliance. To be Platform Verified you must supply a valid licence with class and expiry, current insurance with expiry, photos of your service vehicle and toolkit, and an equipment declaration. Expired insurance pauses your ability to accept jobs until it is renewed, and we may ask for updated documents at any time.
  • Your prices. You publish a call-out fee, an hourly rate and an optional night rate (22:00 to 06:00). They are locked into each quote at dispatch and cannot be changed for that job.
  • Accepting offers. Before accepting, you confirm you have the equipment for the job. A “no” is an honest decline and does not count against you. Offers you let expire do: an acceptance rate below the threshold shown in the app lowers your ranking and may take you offline until it recovers.
  • Doing the job. Obtain the start code on arrival and the finish code on completion. Add extra hours or parts only through approved line items. A cannot-fix outcome needs a reason and a photo.
  • Payment and the platform fee. Job value is credited to your earnings wallet after the finish code, clears a review window, and is paid out to your Canadian bank account through Stripe Connect once your balance passes the threshold shown in the app. The platform fee (10% of pre-tax job value) is deducted and shown on the invoice. HST collected on your services is passed to you; remitting it is your responsibility.
  • Holds and disputes. Flagged jobs are held pending review. We may reverse or withhold amounts for work found to be unperformed, unsafe or arranged off-platform.
  • Data on your device. Job data syncs when you are online; do not uninstall the app while jobs are unsynced.

Fleet accounts

A fleet manager who creates a company account is responsible for the drivers they admit with a join code, the spend rules they set, and payment for jobs those drivers request within the rules. Drivers admitted to a fleet agree that the manager sees their requests and jobs.

Conduct and safety

Treat the other party with respect and follow the law at the roadside. We may suspend or close an account for abuse, fraud, unsafe work, repeated no-shows, off-platform dealing or breach of these terms. Ratings are used internally to run the platform and are not public in this release.

Communications

You agree to receive SMS and email one-time codes and job-related messages, and push notifications if you allow them. Calls placed through the app use masked numbers; we keep the time and duration, not the content. Marketing messages, if we ever send them, will have an opt-out.

The app and our content

We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the URMEK app on a device you own or control, for its intended purpose. URMEK, its logo and the app’s content are ours or our licensors’ and may not be copied or reverse-engineered except as the law allows. If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, those stores’ terms also apply; Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or for support, and are third-party beneficiaries of this licence with the right to enforce it against you.

Disclaimers and liability

URMEK is provided as is. We do not guarantee that a mechanic will be available, that a repair will succeed, or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, consequential or special loss, including lost loads, downtime or lost revenue, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the platform fees we received from jobs involving you in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for our own negligence causing injury.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these terms or your use of URMEK, including, for mechanics, claims arising from your work.

Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile, Delete account) or as described on the delete-account page. A job in progress, a request still being dispatched, unsettled earnings or a fleet you manage must be dealt with first. We may suspend or close accounts as described above. Sections that by their nature survive, including payment obligations, liability, and record-keeping, continue after the account ends.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will be brought in the courts of Ontario, without prejudice to any right to bring a claim in a small-claims court where you live.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the effective date and version at the top will change, and we will notify you in the app or by email before material changes take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
